First European Association of Arts Therapies (FEAT) German Version
BKMT (Professional
Association for Arts, Music and Dance Therapy) was founded in 1986 in Tübingen.
As supplement and enrichment of medical and verbal therapies, it represents art
therapists, who due to their own artistic skills experience themselves the
psychological effect of art, music or dance and, in addition, graduated from
academic/University studies of art, music or dance therapy. These art therapists
are ready to look at other individuals from a holistic point of view - which
means not only to concentrate on visual, auditive and motor abilities of the
clients/patients - and they therefore truely know both the special qualities of
the respective art therapy and the qualities it has in common with another,
applying this combined knowledges to help and support their patients.
During the 15 years of its existance, BKMT influenced decisevely health services
at home and abroad by publications, establishing higher education courses,
negotiations with ministries and sponsors. Due to prove-measured more effective
procedures, BKMT does not limit itself to the depth psychology approach which in
Germany is polemically favoured.
In the first place, BKMT represents the interests of its members who are debited
with a membership fee of only € 80,--, which includes:
MTK (Musik,- Tanz- und Kunsttherapie), the best and most precious journal on arts therapies available in Germany
supervision
low-prive participation in meetings and congresses
professional and legal instruction, and, if required
reports by highly esteemed University fullprofessors.
Membership in BKMT is
considered as special quality proof. The executive commitee will decide on
admission, examining the certifications, activity proofs and testimonials
submitted by the aspirant. There will be no fee raised for this procedure.
